Ryder Cup returning to Hazeltine in 2028

The PGA of America announced Monday that Hazeltine National Golf Club will host the 2028 Ryder Cup, becoming the first U.S. course to host the biennial matches more than once. The Chaska, Minn., layout had its first duties as Ryder Cup site in 2016, when the U.S. team defeated the Europeans by a 17-11 margin to capture the trophy for the first time since 2008. The course also hosted the U.S. Open in both 1970 and 1991 and later hosted two PGA Championships in 2002 and 2009.The announcement means that U.S. host sites for the Ryder Cup are now secured until 2036. Whistling Straits will host the matches in 2020, while the Black Course at Bethpage State Park will have the honors in 2024. Earlier this year it was announced that The Olympic Club outside San Francisco will be the site of the 2032 Ryder Cup.European host sites have only been determined through 2022, with Le Golf National outside Paris hosting this fall and Marco Simone Golf Club in Italy serving as the site of the 2022 matches.
