Woods commits to The National this summer
Tiger Woods has officially added to his summer playing schedule, committing Monday to play in The National which benefits his charitable foundation.Woods won the event in both 2009 and 2012, but he hasn't competed since 2015 when it was held at Congressional and known as the Quicken Loans National. He'll be part of the field June 28-July 1, when the tournament returns to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farms in Potomac, Md."I am really looking forward to being back in the D.C. area this summer playing in The National," Woods said in a release. "As a two-time champion of this event benefiting my foundation, The National has always been a special event for me."Woods is expected to make his next start at the Masters, where he'll chase a fifth green jacket after a strong start to the year. His T-2 finish at the Valspar Championship was sandwiched between a 12th-place showing at the Honda Classic and a T-5 finish two weeks ago at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
