Thomas nearly checks off list of goals for 2017

ATLANTA When Justin Thomas sat down and penned his goals for the 2016-17 season into his cell phone they were admittedly aggressive.Among the list of things he wanted to accomplish: win at least once. Be in the final two groups of a major on Sunday. Win a major. Make the Presidents Cup. And on it went.Following his runner-up finish on Sunday at the Tour Championship, which assured his victory in the season-long FedExCup race, it become clear he may have set his goals too low.Top 10 in half my starts, which I missed by one I realized, he said Sunday as he read the list from his phone.Thomas finished the year with five victories, including the PGA Championship, shot a 59 at the Sony Open, led the PGA Tour in earnings, finished in the top 10 in 12 of his 25 starts and improved in nearly every major statistical category.

So, whats the plan for next season, which begins in 10 days? It's going to be really hard, it is, he admitted. I'm going to try to spend a lot of time with Tiger [Woods] and then definitely call and talk to Jordan [Spieth] because they're the two people I'm closest to that have done something close to this and they've both achieved way more than this. After next weeks Presidents Cup, Thomas said he plans to play the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, where he is the defending champion, and the new CJ Cup in South Korea in October. After that hes looking forward to a much-needed break.I'm excited to not know where my clubs are for two weeks and just put them somewhere in my house and just let them sit there, he said.

Lexi Thompson was the best this week, and Ariya Jutanugarn was the best all season. Neither left any doubt about that Sunday. Lexi wins LPGA finale; Jutanugarn takes Race to the CME Globe

Well, that's the truth. Besides the tee box and the greens, there really isn't a flat ground on the course. You'll be walking up and down hills all day. My recommendation is to wear your most comfortable golf shoes because you'll be walking on grass all day. There are alot of places to set up your chair for viewing.
