Still with more major than non-major titles on thePGA Tour, Brooks Koepka has developed something of a secret sauce when it comes to golfs biggest events.Koepka has won three of the last eight majors played, including last years PGA Championship at Bellerive, when he held off Tiger Woods and a host of other contenders. In addition to his three major titles and last months runner-up, he also finished T-6 at the 2017 Open at Royal Birkdale and cracked the top 5 at the PGA in both 2014 and 2015. Dating back to the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, Koepka has finished inside the top 25 in 12 of 13 starts in the majors, leavingonly last years Open, wherehe tied for 39th.Its a remarkable run of consistency given the demands placed on players during these weeks, but Koepka shared a mathematical breakdown of the field that aligns with views often espoused by Jack Nicklaus on his way to 18 major titles.Theres 156 [players]in the field, so you figure at least 80 of them Im just going to beat, Koepka said. You figure about half of them wont play well from there, so youre down to about maybe 35. And then from 35, some of them just pressure is going to get to them.
